I've stumbled across a few artists whose work I like. Here are a some examples:
"Candy Time" by Jester Maximus
"Heliox GI" by Calzinger
"DepthPlay" by TriZero
"Bellus" by Cugar (Jonathan Foerster)
"Frg224 str4" by Tim Borgmann
Tim's work stands out to me because it doesn't fall into the category of "pointy shapesplosion" which typifies most 3d abstract art--"DepthPlay" is a good example of this amongst thousands of horrible examples out there. Unlike those, Tim's models are carefully constructed, well-lit, and intricately designed. Just gorgeous.
There is something very SHARP about all of these pieces in a way that my work generally isn't. My work tends to be very fluid and colorful. Gender? Perhaps.
